Key seat tilting pad, journal bearings with No. 2 base ring configuration are very similar to key seat tilting pad No. 1 configuration.
Both are almost identical, except for the base ring that doesn’t have an external groove.
DIRECTION
The shoes have a babbitt coating on the working face in order to prevent direct friction (metal to metal) with the shaft. Thanks to the key seat, the shoe is free to tilt in any direction.
